"It was exciting to us that normal people were making art about normal stuff – that's really how we figured out who we were – by watching guys like Rick [Linklater] and Robert Rodriguez."– Mark Duplass on starting out as filmmakers in Austin

Watch the quadruple-threat brothers Mark and Jay Duplass discuss filmmaking, writing, producing, and acting during their Featured Session at the 2016 SXSW Film Conference.

Mark and Jay talk about their early years in Austin, taking an honest approach to making and producing movies, memorable career moments including the 2005 screening of The Puffy Chair at the Alamo Drafthouse, their close working relationship, what's next for the Duplass Brothers Productions, and much more.

The Duplasses have also produced acclaimed independent films including SXSW Film 2016 world premieres of Linas Phillips’ Rainbow Time and Alex Lehmann’s Asperger's Are Us. Following the conversation moderated by Aaron Hillis, Owner of Video Free Brooklyn, the floor opens up for an audience Q&A.
